The New Orleans School of Burlesque was started in 2008 with a simple one time workshop in a small studio on the Westbank of New Orleans. It has grown into New Orleans’ only offering of weekly burlesque classes that focus on all the aspects of burlesque from character development to costuming and so much more. We are still on the search for the perfect freestanding studio! In the meantime, we will continue our classes at Crescent Lotus Dance Studio located at 3143 Calhoun Street.

The school is lead by the Headmistress, Bella Blue, who has a lifetime of dance experience and has been performing burlesque since 2007. In addition to Bella’s instruction, there are regularly scheduled workshops and guest teachers from all over New Orleans and beyond.

Private classes are available upon request. Please refer to our Contact Page to inquire for more information.

The mission of the school is not only to ensure the survival of the art of burlesque through education, but also to empower anyone interested in pursuing burlesque by giving them the tools to embrace and love their bodies, regain and increase their confidence, and be a part of building a community of support and camaraderie.
